Visited my last stone circle on the way to Aberdeen Dyce airport; new road building did mean a few detours though. Julian Cope's "heavy metal circle" did not disappoint - the air was heavy with the lurid metal grunts of pile driving, taking place on a new link road below. Huge scarp now dug into side of the hill below - stone circle could be made a massive feature of this new landscape, but best it be hidden I think. Monument still utterly magnificent. The right flanker is over 10 feet tall. This is the most complete unrestored circle I've seen.
Extraordinary heavy metal circle near Aberdeen Dyce airport. One of the finest, most complete monuments of its kind. The growing urbanisation surrounding it cannot hold this druidic temple back.
